International Arctic Field School 2018

In March 2018, I participated in the inaugural Sentinel North International Arctic Field School, which took place over 10 days in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada. The course focused on changes in the in the Arctic hydrologic cycle and the impacts these changes have on ecosystems and the people of the Arctic region. We did several field excursions both on the tundra and the shorefast sea ice and had the opportunity to meet and work with local students enrolled in Nunavut Arctic College’s Environmental Training Program. The interdisciplinary nature of the course combined with the diverse, international group of PhD students and the incredible Baffin Island scenery made for a really fascinating and eye-opening experience.
